Dr. Anna Giménez-Palomo

Anna Giménez-Palomo, MD, PhD, is a senior specialist psychiatrist at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and Medical Care Barcelona, where she currently works in the Neuromodulation Unit, the Psychiatric Day Hospital and the Outpatient Psychiatric Unit.

She has extensive clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of severe and complex mental disorders, with particular expertise in mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and psychotic disorders. Her clinical practice includes the management of bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, treatment-resistant depression, psychosis, and psychiatric comorbidity.

She completed her medical degree and specialist training in Psychiatry at the University of Barcelona and Hospital Clínic de Barcelona. She subsequently obtained a PhD in Medicine, with International Mention and Excellent Cum Laude, for her research on nutritional status, mitochondrial function, and aerobic capacity as biomarkers of illness course in acute episodes of bipolar disorder.

She participates in teaching and competitive research projects. She is currently involved in different research projects focused on the identification of biomarkers in affective disorders. She is the author of numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters mainly in the fields of affective disorders, psychopharmacology, neuromodulation, and biological psychiatry.
